The Town and Country Planning General Development Order 1963
In 1963 a new GDO replaced the 1950 Order and its three amending Orders, together with most of the 1959 Order. Articles 3 to 6 of the 1959 Order were left in force.
This order applied to the whole of England and Wales.

The 1963 Order carried forward the caravan-site permitted development rights which had already been introduced in 1960 following the Caravan Sites and Control of Development Act 1960. SI 1960/1476 had added separate permissions for certain caravan sites and for development required by the conditions of a caravan-site licence.
SI 1963/709 was laid before Parliament on 8th April 1963 and came into operation on 1st May 1963.
