The Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England) Order 2015
The 2015 GPDO is still the current General Permitted Development Order for England. It came into force on 15th April 2015 and replaced the 1995 Order for England. Rather than being replaced by another consolidated Order, it has been amended repeatedly and must be read in its current form.
Wales did not move to the 2015 English Order. For Welsh permitted development, use the separate Welsh GPDO section.

What changed in 2015?
The 2015 Order reorganised the English permitted development system and brought the rights into the Schedule 2 structure used today. SI 2015/596 was made on 18th March 2015, laid before Parliament on 24th March 2015 and came into force on 15th April 2015.

The 2015 GPDO keeps changing
A historic copy of the 2015 Order is not enough for a current permitted development check. Amendments can change a Class, insert a new right, alter a definition or change a procedure without replacing SI 2015/596 itself.
The archive below records the main amending instruments collected on Planning Geek. The latest entries include the 2025 changes to EV charging and air-source heat pumps, the April 2026 Order which changed Article 2 and inserted Class CA into Part 7, and the August 2026 Order which amended domestic solar rights in Part 14.

Some instruments with wider purposes also amend individual GPDO provisions. For example, SI 2025/412 made consequential Crown-development changes and SI 2026/20 changed the Building Safety Regulator reference in Class MA. These are a reminder to use the current legislation rather than treating an amendment list as a substitute for the revised Order.
