The Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England) Order 2015

In 2015 we saw the ninth GPDO produced. This version is now for England only. This version replaced the 1995 version as well as the twenty-two amendments made to it. Wales remains with the 1995 version and many further amendments.

At the time of writing this is the current version. There are no current plans to issue a new consolidated version.

The now familiar 2015 version continues to be updated regularly. Please see below for all the various updates. This page will be updated with each update as soon as they are released.

The big changes from the last version of 1995 include extensions to non-domestic premises (shops, offices, industrial and schools) has been made permanent; larger homes extensions was extended to 2019 (now permanent).

During the lifetime of the GPDO 2015 we have seen a revised Use Class Order. This is reflected in later updates.

We have also seen Covid-19, which thanks to the coronavirus saw various emergency permitted development rights.

SI 2015/596 was laid before Parliament on 18th March 2015 and came into operation on 15th April 2015.
